Blackberry Pie










Homemade Blackberry Pie

Pie Crust Ingredients:

2 cups flour

1 tsp salt

3/4 cup shortening or butter

5-6 TBSP water

To Make Pie Crust:

1.) combine flour and salt

2.) cut shortening or butter into flour with a pastry knife or fork until crumbly

3.) add 4 TBSP water > stir lightly with fork

4.) slowly add remaining water until dough holds together

5.) cut into two portions *one slightly larger then the other

6.) roll each portion into a ball and refrigerate for one hour

Pie Filling Ingredients:

5-6 cups of blackberries

1 cup sugar

2 TSP lemon juice

1 TSP cinnamon

1/2 TSP nutmeg

1/4 cup flour

Making The Pie:

1.) preheat oven to 376°

2.) toss pie filling ingredients together

3.) roll out larger pie dough ball for bottom crust > place in pan > use fork to poke holes into the dough in the bottom of the pan

4.) Pour in filling > spread evenly

5.) roll out top crust > place atop the filling > use your fingers to crimp the edge of the top pie dough against the edge of the bottom pie dough > use for to poke holes in top of the pie crust

6.) bake 45-50 minutes or until golden brown
